Rating: - BUYER BEWARE
While the information in this book is excellent, the Kindle format is frustrating. 'Flipping' through the book is difficult, there is no access to the index, I found the hyperlinks almost always incorrectly linked. Worst of all, the maps are totally useless. They cannot be enlarged enough to make them legible and the numbered links are on another page. I'm here in Cairo now and I keep wishing I'd bought the paperback version.

it is a great product. but actually the vendor is not responsive. I wrongly clicked the one-click button for ordering the product and I emailed the vendor right away through the communication system here. But no reponse and the product is still shipped to me and I have to take it.

The book is well written. For the most part it is informative and offers the necessary maps. Some of the maps for parts of Cairo are difficult to follow. Overall, very useful. I traveled all along the Nile from the North Coast to Aswan with just this book.

Maybe this is common to the Lonely Planet series, but I hate the maps and locations. The quality is poor and they are not laid out well in sections with ... Read More
Rating: - The best country guide out there.
One thing I like about any of the Lonely Planet (LP) guide books is the large amount of historical/cultural information it contains. The Egypt book is no exception to this. While other guidebooks have tons of pictures, Lonely Planet has tons of information: historical, cultural, travel tips, maps and hotel/restaurant/transportation guides. The history of a country is its soul. Its culture is its life. A tourist will have a deeper appreciation of a place (and its people) if he/she knows more about ... Read More
